Personal push notifications available on SBB Mobile

SBB is introducing push notifications on SBB Mobile. This means app users will receive notifications for their saved journeys if there is disruption. The aim of this function is to inform passengers early about changes to services and show alternative connections.

The new SBB Mobile app update gives customers the option of receiving personalised notifications for their journeys. This means you quickly receive personalised information if there is a change or disruption to your planned journey. The push notifications provide the following information:

  • Platform changes

  • Delays: SBB Mobile shows how many minutes late the train will be when it arrives.

  • Cancellations: SBB Mobile shows the reason for a train cancellation and what alternative connections are available.

  • Information about changes: users receive additional reminders when it is time to board, change or alight.

Useful both for leisure passengers and commuters

When a ticket is purchased via SBB Mobile, the journey is automatically saved in the app. However, the journey can also be saved manually by swiping right in the overview of connections or by tapping on ‘Add to My Trips’ in the menu under the connection details.

Users can also decide how often they want to receive the information:

  • Single journey: customers receive information for a one-off journey e.g. one trip from Brig to Lausanne.

  • Repeated journey: this option is of interest to commuters. They can register a particular journey and receive information about this journey for the days they choose.

To sign up to these new push notifications in the app, tap on the three bars in the top left (menu), then go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Notifications’ > ‘Service disruption information’ and tick the correct box.

The functions are continually undergoing development and improvement. For example, in future, it should also be possible to save journeys on the SBB.ch website and have them appear on SBB Mobile.
