Supersaver Tickets
Supersaver Tickets

Since 2009, SBB has been offering train tickets at discounted prices.

These Supersaver Tickets are available online at SBB.ch and on your mobile (SBB Mobile app). They cannot be transferred and they offer discounts of up to 50% in comparison with the standard fare (full fare and Half Fare Travelcard fare).

In contrast with Point-to-Point Tickets, Supersaver Tickets are valid only for a selected train at a selected time. The tickets can be bought up to an hour before departure and sales begin six months before departure. The earlier they are purchased, the bigger the discount.

Advantages for customers.

Supersaver Tickets mean that SBB can provide its services to customers who would otherwise not have travelled, or who at least would not have done so by train. Around a fifth of Supersaver Ticket customers only make their journeys because a discount is available.

Supersaver Tickets mean that there is more demand among customers for less frequented rail connections. One in seven Supersaver Ticket buyers travels at a time different from that originally planned in order to benefit from a discounted price. This allows SBB to offer more seats and to take the pressure off trains during peak hours.

For connections between large cities, for example Geneva–Lausanne and Bern–Zürich, Supersaver Tickets encourage customers to take the slower InterRegio services. This takes the pressure off the faster and very popular InterCity connections.

Calculating the discount.

The discounts and Supersaver Ticket quotas for SBB trains largely depend on the expected seat occupancy and the time of purchase.

Since their launch in 2009, Supersaver Tickets have enjoyed great popularity among customers. Ticket sales increased from 1.6 million in 2015 to 8.8 million in 2019. Following a drop due to Corona, sales of Supersaver Tickets reached over 8.8 million in 2024, matching the level of sales reached before the pandemic.

The greatest demand for Supersaver Tickets was for the Lausanne–Genève–Genève-Aéroport line, followed by Basel–Zurich and Lucerne–Zurich.
